The tour in brief
Entitled "Dans les pas du lion et du géant Sletto" (In the footsteps of the lion and the giant Sletto), the tour is a nod to the lion, the emblem of Sélestat, and to Sletto, the legendary giant who founded the town.
The tour is designed to be fun. It is signposted on the ground. Some 500 arrows sealed into the ground mark out the route and guide visitors through the town. Visitors are guided from site to site. Each stage is marked by a large numbered bronze plaque anchored in the ground.
It takes 2 hours to discover all 24 stages of the route. It is possible to take a shortcut via the rue des Chevaliers by following the nails fixed to the ground.
A roadbook presenting the route
To help visitors discover the town, the roadbook is available free of charge from the Tourist Office.
Each of the 24 stages of the route is described in detail, with photos, historical anecdotes and unusual details.
