‘L'Ill aux trésors’: the Ill*Wald interpretation trail

An interpretation trail to discover the Ill*Wald and the importance of water in Sélestat.

Objective

The aim of this trail is to help people discover the exceptional natural heritage of the Ill*Wald, which is only a few minutes' walk from the town centre but little known to the general public.

In the midst of enchanting ‘postcard’ landscapes and thanks to the 14 interpretation facilities that make up the trail, the public is invited, along the Ill, to plunge into the heart of the history of Sélestat and its natural jewel, the Ill*Wald. Discover how water has shaped the city and its extremely rich and varied natural environment.

A trail for everyone

This trail is designed for all types of visitor, especially families, whether on foot, by bike or with a pushchair.

It should also be noted that the trail is fully equipped for access by people with reduced mobility, including the footbridge over the River Ill created especially for the route.

The trail is accessible free of charge and in complete autonomy, except during periods of flooding. You will pass through 6 types of area: town, allotments, farmland, alluvial forest, hay meadows and rivers.
